The Festival of Archaeology is the world’s largest event celebrating and sharing archaeology. It runs for two weeks in July each year, and 2015 will see the Festival reach its 25th Anniversary.

The Festival encourages and celebrates ‘archaeology for all’ through specially organised events, and has reached millions of people since it began in 1990.  It is co-ordinated by the Council for British Archaeology (CBA) and made possible by the collaboration of event organisers, large and small, across the UK. These range from community archaeology groups and individuals to museum services and national organisations. Between 2015 and 2017, it is expected that there will be more than 3,600 Festival events reaching three quarters of a million people.

&Co Cultural Marketing has been contracted by CBA to conduct an audience research study for this year’s Festival of Archaeology 11-26 July 2015  The aim of the audience research study is to help find out how to make the Festival better by widening participation to get even more people involved in archaeology and heritage activities.  The CBA vision for the future is for everyone to be able to access to the UK’s archaeology through the Festival.
